@OliverDegnan Go to this page chrome://settings/handlers and add Gmail (mail.google.com) as the mailto handler. Let me know if that helps or send screenshots if not.

Is the mailto function removed? Yes we can open Gmail links from mailto inherently from Gmail now using Handlers, but it only opens in the same tab. Is there a way to force opening in a new window or tab, without having to middle/right click?

@NathanGutauckas Yes, I removed it in favor of Chrome's handlers, I can take this as a suggestion of opening new windows.
