Reward for green behaviour in Brussels

edited October 2014 in Green Talks
Did you know that Brussels adopted a complementary currency to encourage and reward citizens for their positive and sustainable actions towards the environment? The earned currency (named "Eco Iris") can then be spent in local businesses. Good for the environment and the economy! More details.

What is YOUR COMMUNITY doing to support green behaviour?

  • Hi Jason,
we in southern bavaria have a very famous local currency called "Chiemgauer".

This currency loses its value if it is not spend and due to it is locality,
only local companies and craftsman are favoured (no big travel of food, etc.).
Every contributor is automatically supporting social projects by using the currency (3% are spent).
So a chain reaction of fairness is started.
    cu, Andi
