Default meeting length when adding a new meeting
My default meeting length for adding a new appointment in google calendar is 1hr. In the FAQ it says that the browser add on just copies that setting, but it doesnt do that. When I add a new appointment the default length is only 30 minutes

Correct, try double clicking the refresh button in the pop-up window particularly if you recently changed the default length.
