Notifications being read for spam emails

I don't know if it's a problem on your side or gmail's side, whether the real-time polling isn't giving an email enough time to be filtered to spam or not. Since last month, I've been getting a lot more notifications of spam emails.

  • Do these spam emails arrive in your inbox?

  • I'll let the next one by to see if it's still in the inbox after the notification pops up. I think they're in spam by that time though.

  • So I have noticed this behaviour very rarely and I can only attribute it to Gmail's side, because I am using their feed to detect emails in the "inbox". It's possible their AI to detect spam possibly removes it from the inbox after enough people have flagged that same email as spam - but that's just an assumption.
